About
Sometimes funny, occasionally deep, always real – these are my thoughts
on an imperfect life. I like to talk about family, faith, books, diet-friendly
and fiber-filled foods like granola bars and nachos (what?), celebrity look-alikes
and my favorite TV shows. You know, the important stuff.
My name is Mary, and I live in Kansas City. I’m married to my high school sweetheart (cue the “awwww”), and we have a smart, feisty and completely adorable toddler.
No, I’m not biased at all.
When I’m not snapping photos left and right, reading a good book or watching a certain reality TV dance competition, you can find me (avoiding housework) curled up on the couch with my laptop.
Three years ago, after delivering a premature baby – who needed to stay home more than she needed to go out – I got a little stir-crazy. And when my husband began working evenings around the same time, I got a little bored. But then I discovered blogging, and life has never been the same. I’ve been blogging since 2008, and it’s honestly hard to remember LBB. (You know, Life Before Blogging.)
For the past almost-decade, I’ve worked in public relations, but this fall I’m starting a freelance business so I can stay home with my daughter. I watch way too much TV, I love simple scrapbooking, and planning a party is my idea of a good time. I’m a recovering perfectionist, and that’s the only reason I can admit that I am constantly failing – at losing weight, balancing my budget, going green, keeping my mouth shut or my house clean, and accepting that perfection is probably not attainable in this life.
Thankfully, I know God loves me anyway, and He’s perfect enough for the both of us. Just like me, this blog is a work in progress and an honest reflection of my journey through an imperfect life.

I also write for (in)courage, an online magazine for women published by Dayspring, as well as Blissfully Domestic (though I am not nearly as domestic as that statement might imply).
