Up in the air

Airport seating

I’m flying to Pennsylvania today. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. After two years of being completely spoiled and traveling to several conferences a year, this year (of staying home) has reminded me how much I love traveling.

I do. I love to travel. But . . .

Flying? I do not love. And flying does not love me.

Still. I love being in an airport. People watching and reading People magazine. Buying a new book and laughing at the silly souvenirs. I love staying in a hotel room, too. Honestly, I love staying in a hotel room alone, but staying with people I adore is pretty darned good, too! And this weekend I’m flying (ugh) across the country to stay at a hotel (yay!) with some great friends (yay again!).

Do you like traveling? Which parts?

Also – if you’re going to be at Allume, will you leave a comment? I’d love to meet you this week!

This post is part of 31 Days of Giving Up on Perfect, because with my motion sickness pills and over-sized carryon bag, I am far from a perfect traveler! All month long, I’ll be writing about my fight against perfectionism and my quest to get on with life, already. For more 31 Days, visit The Nester.

I love to travel–all of it! From the time I was very young, the diesel smell of an airport got me very, very excited. I looked around and wondered where all those people were going and where they were coming from. I wondered what it was like to live where they lived. Travel makes me curious, and happy.

Have so much fun at Allume! Sure wish I could join you there. Someday . . . Can’t wait to hear all about it!

I guess I’m more of a home body … though I never imagined I would be. I mostly can’t stand all the prep work to get ready to be gone: from work, from home, from children. Then all the catch up when I return.

However, I do LOVE spending time with friends and making memories. And while I’ve been to several countries in South America and Asia, I have a goal of visiting Europe someday! I’m flying back to the Midwest this weekend, so I as much as I don’t like it, I don’t avoid it either.

Ha! I feel the same way. Packing, security, small seats…not my favorite, bit I do love the excitement of airports and flying. And I look forward to picking up the latest mag, People being my first choice, and usually being able to read thru it all by the time I reach my destination.

I loveeee to travel too!! We really are so much alike. I love to travel but don’t love flying. I enjoy the parts around flying, but I don’t like the cramped space, recirculated air, crabby people, delays out of my control, teeny tiny bathrooms, uncomfortable tight seatbelts, etc. I love the airports too though! I really love arriving at the airport wherever I just landed and leaving there into the heart of the city I’m visiting. The thrill of being in a new and different place, or a familiar place that I don’t get to be in super often. I love the different people, different sights and smells, etc. But I hate, hate, hate what traveling does to my body and how much time it takes for me to recover, esp after long trips (3+ hour flights or 6+ hour drives). Hope you have a great time away!!! :)

I LOVE airports and traveling. I suppose if I had to go all the time I wouldn’t, but I just like the excitement of it all. Guess that’s why I was in the travel industry years ago.

At this point in my life, I enjoy taking people to the airport – everyone things I’m crazy, but I’m the first to volunteer if someone doesn’t want to leave a car and needs to be dropped off. And if it’s one of those wild, first thing in the morning flights – even better!

    Enjoy your weekend:)

I love traveling, but really love it most if my whole family is with me! I love seeing people out in the airports and traveling and seeing new things! So, so fun. But, I really love being home too.
